Aisha Movie Review | Aisha Movie Songs

First things first. Anil Kapoor Productions' AISHA is a family film (literally). Produced by Anil Kapoor and Rhea Kapoor, it could be very well termed show reel for Sonam Kapoor.

Secondly, Bollywood is predominantly male dominated and the heroines are chiefly meant for the song and dance opportunities. It is perhaps impossible to envisage a film without a male lead. AISHA is an audacious attempt in this regard.

Based on Jane Austin's classic Emma, AISHA is the story of a Delhi based high-class girl, Aisha (Sonam Kapoor), who thinks she is as efficient as a matrimony site. Apart from being a matchmaker, she's also an artist who loves gardening and shopping and of course spending her (rich) father's money. Pinky (Ira Dubey) is her best friend. Shefali (Amrita Puri) is a small-town girl for whom Aisha is keen to find a match. Arjun (Abhay Deol) is Aisha's childhood neighbour and friend who opines it is Aisha who needs help rather than she helping others. Randhir [Cyrus Sahukar] has a crush on Aisha while Dhruv Singh (Arunoday Singh) is a natural charmer.

Director Rajshree Ojha doesn't take much time in introducing the characters and one keeps on knowing more about them as the film progresses. Although it has an interesting blend of characters, the situations that they are in, are humdrum.

Too much prominence is given on the styling rather than the script, thereby making it a 'good looking film' rather than a 'good film'. While nothing much happens in the first half in terms of taking the story forward, the second half is a complete drag which has Aisha and Arjun whining forever. Almost everyone in the film is paired with or attracted to one another, which is difficult to assimilate.

The Arjun-Shefali track is absurd. As much as it's unclear how and why they fall in love (or do they at all?), their break up is equally ambiguous. Even the track between Pinky and Randir isn't palpable, as they suddenly realise they are in love.

However, the film has its moments. Watch out for the scene in which Pinky and Aisha have a heated argument or the confrontation scene between Arjun and Aisha in the elevator. Even the scene between Aisha and her father, towards the end is well written. Aisha using pepper spray on Randhir is amusing. In fact, there are quite a few moments which could have brought the required humour had it been well written like Randhir and Shefali left alone in the middle of the night, or the one in which Randhir proposes Aisha.

Stylists Pernia Qureshi and Kunal Rawal must be credited for making the characters look fashionable and opulent. Cinematographer Diego Roderiguez makes Delhi look amazing. Music by Amit Trivedi is astounding, with Sham and By the way standing out.

Sonam Kapoor plays her part well but lacks that required poise. Abhay Deol is charming and we are sure people will yearn to see more of him. The chemistry between Abhay Deol and Sonam Kapoor is notable. Cyrus Sahukar perfectly fits the role. Ira Dubey is spunky. Amrita Puri plays her behenji act to perfection in her debut film. Lisa Hayden looks glamorous but is too wooden. Arunoday Singh doesn't have much to do, though, displays great potential.

Without an endearing story, this chick flick AISHA simply doesn't click.

Aisha Movie Rating - 2/5

Once Upon A Time In Mumbai Movie Review, Ratings

Once Upon A Time In Mumbai Movie Review, Ratings

emraan hashmi in once upon a time in mumbai
Once Upon A Time In Mumbai directed by Milan Luthria is a gangster film starring Ajay Devgan, Emraan Hashmi, Prachi Desai, Kangna Ranaut and Randeep Hooda. The film has been in news for being based on the lives of underworld don Dawood Ibrahim and Haji Mastan. The disclaimer - as ordered by the high court - claims otherwise, still the news has created tremendous excitement around the film.

The film is set in Mumbai. It starts off in the 70s with the rise of underworld don Sultan Mirza (Ajay Devgan), with Shoaib (Emraan Hashmi) as his protg. Years later, Sultan decides to leave the crime world and join politics. While on a trip to Delhi for a party ticket, he appoints Shoaib as his successor to the rule the underworld. The ambitious Shoaib takes over and expands his illegal business. Thus begins the conflict between the mentor and his protg. What happens next forms the rest of this genuinely engrossing film.

Once Upon A Time In Mumbai starts of very well. The characters, including those of the two lead gangsters, are very likable. And unlike most other gangster films, the director has included plenty of heart-warming romantic scenes to keep the female section of the audience hooked.

Don Seenu Movie Story
Seenu (Ravi Teja) likes to be called as ‘Don’ Seenu since his childhood as he was a huge FAN of Amitabh Bachchan starrer ‘Don’. His only ambition in his life is to become a don like him and this also make him come to the city where he join hands with Machiraju (Sayaji) whose target is his biggest rival Narsing (Srihari).
Machiraju gives Seenu a task, to go to Germany and win the heart of Narsing’s sister whose marriage is fixed with the son of the super don Mukesh (Mahesh Manjrekar). Seenu goes to Germany and wins the heart of Deepthi (Shriya) and later, he discovers a twist which leads to various turns in the story.
What happens after that forms the essence.
Actors Performance in the Movie Don Seenu:
Ravi Teja was his usual energetic self and his dialogue delivery with positive body language was enough to charge the audience. He scored well.
Shriya looks stunningly beautiful and just like wine, she is building on her oomph factor and natural beauty as years pass by. She has made a thumping comeback and will remain in the hearts for a long time.
Srihari was his regular style and his typical Telangana dialogue delivery will appeal to the masses.
Anjana looks okay and though she is not pretty, she looked cute in few scenes. Sayaji was standard, Ali gave few smiles, the characters of Brahmanandam and Venu Madhav were also hilarious and their tracks were well etched. Mahesh Manjrekar was moderate, Raghu Babu was alright, Kasturi looks sick, Surekha Vani was brief, the others didn’t have much to offer.
Plus Points of the Film Don Seenu:
Ravi Teja’s energy levels
Shriya’s glamour
Comedy by Venu Madhav, Ali and Brahmanandam
Production values
Limitations:
Length of the movie tests patience
No virgin feel in the story (it’s a beaten formula recalling the films like Dhee, Ready, Bujjigadu etc)
Music
Final Analysis:
In a typical Ravi Teja style, the film is a racy commercial entertainer. The director included the elements of comedy, glamour and rich presentation in good proportions and it is a treat to those who are fond of time pass comedy entertainers. On the flip side, the film has few limitations which could have been tweaked. The length of the film during the second half could have been trimmed Ravi Teja seeks inspiration from Amitabh Bachchan but it is difficult for the front benchers to connect with someone like Amitabh since he is a fading personality in today’s time.
The content was not there as the take off is on a silly note (Dons worrying about their marriage alliances with each other) but thanks to the presentation this got covered up.
The climax was weak and especially the fight sequences which resembled some ‘Tamil Paithyam’, perhaps Ravi Teja is the only star in film history to jump inside a manhole and come out of it breaking the bones of baddies.
Overall, the film would appeal to the B and C center audience in a big way while the A center viewers who are fond of ‘Kick’ type films will also get attracted to it. The biggest asset to the film is Shriya who will pull crowds to the theaters. The dialogues were witty, the script was moderate, the screenplay was above average. Songs were a letdown but the background score was good. Cinematography was impressive. Editing could have been better. Costumes, art department made their presence felt. At the box office, this has the right menu to end up as a profit grosser.
Don Seenu Movie Ratings: 3.25/5
